Players play differently

Blue - The Thinkers

These players enjoy planning ahead and approaching the game with strategic and well-thought-out reasoning for their actions. They often play at a slightly slower pace compared to others and are keen on comprehending the reasons behind their victories or losses.

For our game: We aim to provide an experience that encourages foresight by allowing them to memorize the cards they send and anticipate their potential return. We've designed specific cards that grant players additional choices and the ability to manipulate draft picks, which we believe aligns well with the strengths of a blue player

Red - The Actors

Red wants to have fun and feel enjoyment after and especially during the game. They thrive on doing crazy actions that get a reaction from other players. Often, the outcome of the game matters less to them than the thrill of playing the cards they desire.

For our game: Within our game, our Employee cards all have abilities, with some having more immediate and noticeable effects than others. These are the types of cards that we believe resonate with red players. Cards that randomly flip over a card they had no control over or a card that either gives them a lot of points or nothing.

Yellow - the dreamers

These players often win or come in last. They love to find a strategy that no one else has seen or to risk everything to make a single idea work because they want to live the dream of everything coming together. I would also say that these players are in general creative in their play style and love to prove themself.

Our game: We aim to ensure our cards are balanced. However, a game that's perfectly balanced is often pretty boring. We want players to have the option to go for linear strategies where a card, in isolation, isn't great, but with a little luck, it could turn amazing and it's the yellow players' job to find them.

Orange - the compediors

They are here to win. They often want to play shorter games multiple times and add up the score to lower the chances of luck. An orange player is often the one with the most knowledge of the rules and is good at catching mistakes that can happen.

Our game:

The balance between luck and skill is very important. Even though we want luck to play a big role it's also important to make sure the better player has a bigger chance to win. We have playtested alo to make sure this is true in our game and the possibility of holding competitions at game convents is big thanks to its short play time and easy-to-learn rules - wich I think a lot of orange player would look for.

Green - the talkers

Green players love the social interaction that games offer. They might often lose track of their turn or the strategy they had in mind because their primary focus is not on winning but on enjoying quality time with family and friends.

Our game: Our game is designed to be short, which is particularly advantageous for Green players. Its brevity allows for more conversations during the game, making it perfectly acceptable to start discussions midway and easily jump back into the gameplay. Moreover, I believe that, along with Red players, Green players take great pleasure in the game's artwork. Hence, a captivating theme with visually appealing cards serves as an excellent way to keep Green players engaged and entertained.

The rainbow

To sum it all up. I believe everyone plays games for different reasons and also that it depends on the game they are playing by understanding that I think you get one step closer to creating great games that speak to people. However, just like with personalities I also think we all are a bit of everything with a variance in volume. Here is what I look like when playing a similar game to the one I'm creating.
